DRESS CODE

A dress is a piece of clothing worn to cover and protect the body.  Clothes are meant to provide protection against unfavourable weather. Clothes are also put on to match a particular occasion or work schedule.  As the saying goes that your dress is your first address.  It is the manner in which you dress that you will be address, classified or called, especially by strangers.  For example, if an army general dresses like a medical doctor or a religious priest, he would certainly be addressed as a doctor or a priest by strangers.  If anyone dresses like a harlot, he would be address as such.

Nowadays, some people wear clothes that expose most parts of their bodies; all in the name of fashion.  Some people wear trousers that reveal their under-wears or boxers.  Some even display their ‘bum-bum’.  Some others wear clothes that I refer to as body-plasters. I hear some call them body-hugs.  These types of clothes are as good as being naked because it is only the colour that make the difference between the clothes/hugs and their skins.  Some even make designs called tattoos on their skins.

There are codes or rules set by the LORD God as regards dresses.  They are as listed below:
·         Neither a woman should wear a man’s clothing nor should a man wear a woman’s clothing; it is an abomination unto the LORD God.  Deuteronomy 22:5.
·         Do not make a cutting in your flesh or tattoo any mark on yourself.  Leviticus 19:28.
·         Provocative dressings could lead to lusts.  Matthew 5:28.
·         Don’t ever hide your identity as a true/obedient Christian.  Mark 8:38
·         Do not be conformed to this world.  Romans 12:1-2.
·         Make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts.  Romans 13:14.
·         You are God’s building and temple; do not defile it.  1 Corinthians 3:9,16-17.
·         You are bought with a price and you are not your own; glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20.
·         Long hair for man is a dishonour to him, but for a woman, it is a glory to her.
1 Corinthians 11:14-15.
·         Dress moderately and morally; not with braided hair or costly array.  1 Timothy 2:9-10.
·         Let your adornment be hidden in heart and incorruptible, which is precious in God’s sight.  1 Peter 3:3-4
·         Avoid anything at all that can lead to harassment.  Proverbs 6:27.

Prayer Points:
·        Praise and thank the LORD God for HIS kindness towards man.
·        Beg God to forgive you if you have ever dressed rudely against HIS rule.
·        Pray for God to keep you away from any form of dressing that can offend HIM.
·        Pray that people who dress ungodly would have a change of heart to dress morally.
·        Thank and Give God all the glory for answering your prayers.
