Any medium of exchange that is widely accepted in payment for goods and services and in payment of debts is referred to as money. It also serves as a regulation of value for measuring the relative worth of goods and services. Price of a commodity is the number of units of money required to buy that commodity. Certainly, everyone needs money. Well, if you don’t, I do. I like money but I don’t love or worship it. Some animals, especially domestic ones need money. The government that even control the flow of money needs more of it to keep the system going. The more money you have, the more the need to increase it rises. In some quarters, it is more money, more problems, and to others, it’s more money, more progress. Money indeed is good. Yes, it is very good. But money becomes dangerous when it is allowed to control one’s mind. It becomes evil when it becomes someone’s good – when it is allowed to take the place of GOD in a man’s life. Money is deadly if it becomes a person’s object of worship.
Many people in the world over disobey GOD in so many ways just because of money. They love money more than GOD. Neither the love for money nor that for abundance with increase can satisfy – they are all vanity. Money could be a defence, but it does not give life to whoever has it. It is whatever you call money that it answers. If you call it your god, it will answer. If you call it your slave, it will answer. Even if you call it your partner, it will surely answer. The list can go on an on. Money answers everything but it is not the answer to anything. It’s a mere medium of exchange. There are so many things that you should appreciate or be thankful for that money can not even buy or acquire. Look at the sun and the moon, how much can you pay for their value? The richest man in the whole world cannot even try that.
The redemption of man is not with money. No matter how rich you are, do not glory in it, but in the LORD God and in the cross of our Lord Jesus. Money is ordinary, negligible and yoke-enabled. It is an earthly treasure, which makes it subject to destruction, decay and theft or loss. Money can cause deceit and unfaithfulness. In whatever form or shape it takes, money is all man’s idea; it’s not of Godly origin. It will not go beyond this world. Though, it is not relief in itself, it is to be used to create relief for all according to their needs. Do not be greedy with money. There is no GOD’S gift or power that can be purchased with money.
The love of money if the root of all kinds of evils such as lies, vulgar, bitterness, wrath, anger, malice, rituals, idolatry and all other forms of immorality and corruption. Do not ever trust money at all. Don’t love it; be content with what you have and continue to work hard, GOD will surely increase you accordingly. HE never fails and HE does not abandon HIS obedient children. Don’t be partial and oppressive with money. Don’t be afraid of jealous when one is made rich and increased.
To save money and increase your wealth, honour the LORD with your material possession and be diligent. Do not waste money on bad habits such as drug and alcohol abuse, gambling, smoking, and fornication or adultery. Also, pay your tithes and offerings accordingly. Don’t buy on impulse; consider cost and necessity before buying. Pay bills on time and settle your debts as agreed. Practise charity; help the needy. Learn to be contented. With all your reliance on the Almighty GOD, HE will surely shall provide all your needs according to his treasures in glory by Christ Jesus.
